Our Challenges

Currently, we need your support in a few key areas:

  • Permanent land

We currently have a permanent garden at Pillsbury United Communities Oak Park Center. Six of our urban farms have already been removed by the city for development.  We are looking for partnerships with urban and rural organizations and other opportunities that will sanctify a permanent place for gardens.

  • Year-round volunteers

The work in our gardens is seasonal and requires the efforts of planters, harvesters, and more. Currently, we are looking for more volunteers for harvesting in our gardens.

  • Nursery support

We are looking for support and partnership from local nurseries, arborists, seed banks, and .

  • Rural Agricultural Partnerships

We are interested in expanding our partnerships with rural agricultural organizations. We have begun connecting with some rural groups through the Midwest Farmers of Color  Collective.
